Immigration Fútbol
Morton Kondracke is making sense:
Presidents of both parties look impotent, the immigration issue gets more fractious by the year and, increasingly, state and local politicians decide they have to (or want to) take over what’s plainly a federal responsibility.
Even as they battle each other, both parties are losing, too. By demanding ever harsher enforcement measures, Republicans are kicking away support from Latinos, the nation’s fastest-growing demographic group.
And Democrats, by insisting on “comprehensive” reform to appease liberal and Latino activists, are losing the chance to enact incremental changes that might build a consensus for full reform.

Woo Hoo!
Kondracke can make sense when he takes the middle road…. which he used to do when The McCaughlin Group was one of the only political shows on tv. Unfortunately nowadays he frequently spouts the right’s crappola.
On his statement concerning immigration reform, I agree with him.
Renee,
Ditto on a few of the things that U have said lately….Bill M’s sexual talk is just part of his act….seen him many, many times use it for it’s numerous effect…never seen him verbally abuse any of his female guests…..not even that blond dip whats her face??
ps…..the immigration problem will be resolved when most of all races are becoming one…..and about the time (75-100 years or so) that organized religion is at it’s end…….and it will…….and don’t give me that I don’t care how much I scream stuff….U haven’t heard me scream yet……its in the book U know……NO SCREAMING.!!!!
that would be for his humerus effect……..
Craig,
…….forgot. About Helen T. Your a class act.!
“comprehensive reform”

a nation which cannot see that legalizing a certain relatively harmless plant (by ANY account far higher on the harmless scale than Tobacco, legally taxed and sold) would deal a severe blow to the dreaded drug cartels cannot be expected really to develop a sensible solution for much of anything else at all…….

Exposed: The truth about Israel’s land grab in the West Bank
As President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meet, a report reveals 42 per cent of territory is controlled by settlers
A Jewish settler hangs the Israeli flag over a vacated building in the West Bank town of Beit Sahur
Jewish settlers, who claim a divine right to the whole of Israel, now control more than 42 per cent of the occupied West Bank, representing a powerful obstacle to the creation of a Palestinian state, a new report has revealed.
The jurisdiction of some 200 settlements, illegal under international law, cover much more of the occupied Palestinian territory than previously thought. And a large section of the land has been seized from private Palestinian landowners in defiance even of an Israeli supreme court ruling, the report said, a finding which sits uncomfortably with Israeli claims that it builds only on state land.

“I find it very interesting here today that those the furthest from the AZ Mexico border have the simplist answers to all of the issues surrounding immigration. Blonde, who lives on the border, is trying her best to shed some light on the plight of Mexicans now in the spotlight as white reactionaries, including some here, think the entire immigration problem, if there really is one and not mere political posturing, is Mexican in origin”
http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/trailmix/2010/07/immigration-on-deck.html#comment-306118
What we tend to forget is that half of the undocumented residents did not come across the Mexico/ US border. Solutions for the Mexico/US border migration problems will not work for them.
We need to separate the two and if we are going to do comprehensive reform do it as border control reform.
Jack
Calling this an ‘immigration’ anything is a misnomer. It is about baggers and the feds. States out-of-control acting in a federal capacity. If Arizona wants to help, then go over to Afghanistan and fight the war. You seem to think you can do a better job than the feds when your own police forces are nearly bankrupt and you can’t control your own costs.

the problem with oligarchy: a bunch of fools run the show.
Israeli PM Expresses ‘Concern’ Over Possible US Pullout From Iraq
Withdrawing US Troops From Iraq a ‘Threat’ to Israel
Few things go on with respect to America’s foreign policy in the Middle East without eventually being tied to Israel. Well the prospective US withdrawal from Iraq is the latest to fall into this category, as visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today voiced “concerns” about the impact the withdrawal of the 90,000 US troops would have on Israeli security.
Netanyahu claims that withdrawing the American troops after 7 years of occupation “could leave Israel vulnerable” and that it might even provoke an attack on Israel “from the east.” Exactly who would be doing this attacking is never stated, but Israel is bordered to the east by Jordan.
In a meeting with Defense Sec’y Robert Gates, Benjamin Netanyahu expressed concerns about Israel’s security once U.S. troops leave Iraq, Israeli officials said. Israel’s PM also discussed buying unspecified U.S. “defense products.” He sought assurances that Palestinian peace talks would address illegal arms smuggling in the region.
Looks like they are asking us for more, and more money…which we will give them….so our defense contractors can make a little side cash……

As for Morton Kondrake making sense..even a broken clock is right twice a day.
What about all the illegal Asians especially the women brought in for the sex trade. Oh right that would make them employees of Congress.
BW
It is not just baggers, if that were so then it could be ignored. There is also a large contingency of left wing nativists too.
So what we end up with is both parties taking the easy road and pandering to their nativist minorities.
Jack
The reason that im posting about the settlements again is b/c they-the Pals will be looked at as illegals in their own lands……they also have people that have (families) lived their since the time of the great Messiahs…..in the same freakin houses……
Their land are being literally stolen from them through the Jewish courts……and of course they have the might to make it all right.!!!
Sonoma County had a large population of undocumented workers. No one wants anyone to go anywhere. Most people want everyone to be able to get a drivers license, insurance and not be afraid of the police.
The problems caused by the drug wars are a completely different issue and have nothing to do with immigration.

I think Jack maybe talking about Raygun Democrats
Palin’s Pink Elephants will be enforce in New Mexico this election season. Our local, DA (once a dem, now a cant) is Hispanic and claims she is tough on the border. Her office listens to Rush L. Only problem, she is not tough on child abusers and has botched many high profile cases here on the border. As a young population demographic, we have horrific child abuse and deaths. Once again, you can’t have it both ways, PPEs.
Kondracke “You didn’t ask for my 2 cents but there it is anyway”
That’s all I got out of it -- really over generalizing in many areas of the debate. Human Beings are involved, and until it’s treated as a “Human” issue it’s going to stay fractious.
Immigration and Border Security are two different things.
On the Immigration side this could be solved “politically” if the politicians didn’t want to keep it as a wedge issue to get votes when elections come up.
The southern border is all about “Commerce” not Human Beings. Until it’s treated as a “Human Being” issue, it’s not going to change.
But the politicians are never going to frame debate that way…it isn’t politically advantageous to them. It’s politics first in this country -- Humans, second, third or last.
BW
They usually come under the disguise of being pro union.
And tend to say things like “They are here to take our jobs” and blame undocumented workers for all kind of ills relating to employment.

Palin’s Pink Elephants what is this…

Fair,
The other song from the album that has a hold on me is “I Love To Watch A Woman Dance”. There is a copy on You Tube but it is fan generated and the video sound isn’t as good since it is a “one off” from the original plus the dancing girl doesn’t live up to the lyrics.

Patsi…. I do think Maher talks that way for comedic affect. The proof in the pudding to me is the way a man will treat women. Bill does like to go with young voluptuous women…. but he’s single. JFK also went with “yv” women…

1. Jackson’s Jaime town comment was not anti-Semitic.
2. Kondracke writes what safe. He never varies from the common wisdom expressed by the common herd of reporters. IOW, Kondracke is Matthews w/o the exuberance. If he seemed middle of the road on the mclaughlin group, it is because he was surrounded by the Tory, tony blankley, the Moonie, arnaud de borchgrave, and neo-nazi, pat buchanan. On the mclaughlin group, the sexist elevator molester, Father john, always positioned himself as the middle of the roader, that made Kondracke a token Liberal, simply because he didn’t express much sympathy for dispossessed slave owners.

Interesting that Levi publicly apologized to the Palins right before the pink elephant vid. I wonder how much they paid him & the person who wrote the apology for him? When I saw the women bowing to the cult of personality that is Sarah P, it made me very sad.

If not, I will hope that the Mayan calendar is correct and that the world comes to an end a month before innauguration day.

Oh yeah, Kondracke wasn’t much of a cheerleader for the tobacco industry either, which put him at odds with the ‘pro-lifers’ on the program.
Look for more banks and other companies dominated by ultra-right wing creeps to ‘tighten belts’ by laying people off on the run up to the election.

afternoon,
man, what a day -- if you like heat that is. Not as bad as yesterday, but plenty hot enough for me.
Slow day -- can’t seem to get worked up about much of anything. I did hear that the jobs report due out tomorrow(?) will look better than the last one. At least that’s good news.
I do see teh Sarah Palin comedy tour has added a new bit about cubs and pink elephants. How cute. Vacuous, but cute.
flatus, butting in here but pogo will probably agree with me.
question: “when are federal judges required to recuse themselves?”
answer: when they see that fbi tape of them stuffing money into their pockets

Flatus,
A federal judge should recuse himself (herself) in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.

So far, the 2 plans seem to be :
republicans use fears of White racists to raise Tens of Millions of $$$ for republican campaigns.
Dems use republicans race-baiting to solidify the Hispanic vote.
Both parties agree that the above plans dovetail nicely, and are therefore unlikely to do anything practical in 2010 regarding immigration reform.
That should be interesting … they do know that his books are fiction, right? Engaging, perhaps, some facts right perhaps, but still, they’re fiction.
Goodness, Pogo, I um, er, prevaricate.
hey you!…. yes YOU!
