Perhaps President Obama intentionally postponed the debate over extending Bush tax cuts for the rich.

Scheduled to expire after his reelection campaign, free rides for big business and the wealthy are set to be campaign fodder.

In short, put Obama back in office and the richest Americans pay their fair share, right?

But wait, he campaigned on that promise in 2008. Place your bets on whether he’ll mean it this time.

From the comments section of the Ritholtz piece I linked to earlier.

Democrat’s economic policies are easy to understand once you realize that Democrats are Republicans who are pro-choice. There use to be other differences (anti-war, pro gay marriages, etc) but as Obama has abundantly shown they no longer apply

oh ok… now that I’ve read the threads from last night, I guess it’s time to comment.

I thought KO’s head was gonna explode. As for all of us that protested in the streets in the 60s and early 70s… we are now old, fat, set in our ways, and like our nightly glass of wine way too much.
I wonder if he regrets shilling for this president on MSNBC.

As for placing a bet… I’d bet against Obama doing anything substantial in a second term.

I thought O’Donnell made a good point about the tax cuts on his show last night.
The tax cuts may expire, Obama needs to do nothing, just let them sunset. However they will expire for all tax payers, including the middle income earners.
The chances of getting a new and higher tax rate on upper income earners is effectively nil.
I think that is what we mean by shared sacrifice.

Amazing pictures of Congress woman Giffords yesterday.
I am not always too proud of our great state or it’s politicians. But I am very proud of her and to be able to say she hails from Arizona.
Well done madam! Good luck and God speed.

    RR,
Was it just me, or were several of the Obama media shills absent from their posts last night? Coincidence?

  8. RebelliousRenee says:

Jace… It’s baseball season and summer… I don’t watch the political shows at this time of year. I sometimes put on CNN for a few minutes after the Red Sox game and before retiring to bed.

Summer is short up here in the northeast… gotta enjoy it while one can.

  9. jace says:

    RR,
Good for you. Rooting for the Red Sox is a lot more fun and productive than rooting for Obama or watching the news.
And I say this as a life long Yankee fan. Grin

    Things like this

One executive even suggested that if this “run to the bank” continues, lenders might consider introducing negative interest rates on deposits (savers would have to pay a fee to park the money in the bank) to keep money out

I think I have a solution for the problem I linked to above, The bankers could just pay me to take the money off their hands.

I willing to sacrifice to help the poor bankers.

I suppose the real question is, since we are going to have Mr Obama as president for the next six years, how can we help him be successful while having much of that success be his active support of liberal and progressive and traditional Democratic causes?

“I think I have a solution for the problem I linked to above, The bankers could just pay me to take the money off their hands.” …. very interesting; but

Speaking of closings: in real-estate closings…there is a word that apply’ s to Obama, and the Democrat’s in general: gazump:

Like when buying a house and then the banks/mortgage co. changes the price of an already agreed amount for the home as they are handing you the closing papers to sign….

Tony don’t get: GAZUMPED…by a one or two issues from the D.s Definitely can’t go with
