Newt’s Fantasy Campaign software needs an upgrade if he is to go on. But after badly losing the Nevada caucuses reality seemed to creep into his thinking, suggesting that even he knows his quest has become largely theoretical.

During a rambling late-night press conference Gingrich chose less-than-certain words to describe his strategy going forward, saying that his goal is “to seek to find a series of victories which by the end of the Texas primary will leave us about at parity with Gov. Romney, and from that point forward to see if we can’t actually win the nomination.”

Hardly confident words – more like the description of a hapless lab experiment aimed at disproving the laws of physics.

Gingrich seems to think an army of grass-roots Republicans are waiting for him in primaries to come: “The vast majority of Republicans across the country are going to want an alternative to a Massachusetts moderate.”

That might be true, but there’s no proof those voters are waiting to vote for Gingrich – except in his fantasy world.

I’m already bone weary of the nastiness of this political season…and dreading what I suspect will be far worse nastiness in the general.

Feel no sympathy for Newt. See Romney as one who’ll say whatever you want to hear…if only you’ll vote for him.

Am firmly in the Obama camp as far as my November vote goes. Hope we’re gonna’ see what we hoped for the first term…but recognize we may not. However, we’ll definitely provide safe harbor for the Supreme Court if we keep the Republicans out of the White House!

HW..that’s definitely how y’all convinced me to go for Obama last time. We did get two women. How have they been doing? I know that Sotomayer did vote against Citizens United..good thing.. and that decision I feel has been and will be one of the most corrupting influences on our freedom/democracy.

Yes..I’m a Democrat but I don’t just vote the party line..I like to look at the individual candidate. I never felt like McCain was a bad guy..but he sure tried hard to prove to the powers that be..and to his constituents.. that he was..to get elected last time.

Looking at McCain’s time in Vietnam..he was a good guy. And looking at his McCain-Fiengold bill..he didn’t want elections to be bought. Wiki says of McCain after the Citizen’s United decision…”Senator McCain, one of the two original sponsors of campaign finance reform, noted after the decisions that “campaign finance reform is dead” – but predicted a voter backlash once it became obvious how much money corporations and unions now could and would pour into campaigns.” Those kind of things impress me and he was spot on with what he said there.

I’ve learned that I just can’t listen to the campaign rhetoric..it’s all BS.. I need to look at past actions. I wasn’t real comfortable with Obama last time and how about his actions so far??? Has he fulfilled his promises?? Will he this time. Help me.

Romney..like McCain has been very busy trying to convince people that many of his good actions as Governor were a mistake. It seems to me that he did some good things when he was governor. I just don’t understand those conservatives and why they have to pretend to be AHs to get elected.

There’s no doubt that Newt’s past actions give us a big clue. I don’t think anyone can deny that. Very scary guy and thank God people see it!

Right now..I’m not crazy about either choice.. both have been deceptive. That’s not good. I’m still supporting Roemer even though I understand it’s a pipe dream but he’s focusing on one of the most important issues in our democracy to date..corruption.. and I’m supporting that focus.

It took a few Presidents to turn the Supremes into an extension of the right wing GOP. We often forget that the lower ranks that are the source of Supreme appointees have been seeded with equally right leaning legal types. This is one of the reasons it has been so hard for the President to get his appointees approved.

The best use of Democratic votes in addition to the Presidency is to give him at least a centrist voting Democratic house and Senate that matches his own basically centrist inclinations.

War creates an enemy that must be extinguished by government force. The more broadly defined the enemy is, the bigger the government’s role becomes in eradicating it. And when the government wages war against anything, it’s a cycle that’s nearly impossible to stop. The government creates new agencies, and staffs them with union jobs that depend on never actually winning the wars, but rather only perpetuating them.

When poverty rates climb, there’s a crew of government workers secretly high-fiving that their job is safe. When marijuana legalization measures fail, the police and prison unions celebrate. When America is attacked, the weapons manufacturers rejoice. When all Americans are considered terror suspects, surveillance industry stocks soar. And we pay for it all in treasure and freedom.

The elections are just sport for the collosuims crowds….the real games for the rich ‘one %’ are in how the corps keeps us in perpetual wars…..

“The key authors of that document, American neo-cons Richard Perle, David Wurmser and Douglas Feith (who Gen. Tommy Franks called the ‘f… stupidest guy on the face of the earth” i.e. Bob Woodward’s Plan of Attack, pg 281), soon found themselves influential national security positions within a receptive Bush Administration from which to proselytize their recommendations.

A decade later, the authors of that study are gone in name but their spirit of unending wars is alive and well within the Obama Administration’s recently announced “Defense Strategic Guidance” as part of “Sustaining US Global Leadership: Priorities for 21st Century Defense,” Where Clean Break offered what was then a radical Middle East military strategy, Obama’s DSG identifies US military priorities for the 21st century to “confront and defeat aggression anywhere in the world” with an emphasis on the Middle East and Asia-Pacific region as the “greatest challenges for the future.” (Panetta, 1-5-2012)

Even prior to announcement of the DSG, the American military is still pursuing WMD’s as combat troops have been deployed to chase local ‘terrorists’ that pose no threat to the US; such as the Lord’s Army in Uganda and escalating a US military presence dispatching 2,500 Marines to Australia to protect US ‘national interests’ in the South China Sea and Indian Ocean.

Thinking that this time Obama will keep his promises is something I’ve hoped for and I’ve been able to rationalize that he couldn’t last time because he needed the big money to get re-elected. That’s a fact..as we see that Roemer can’t even get a word in at all because he has no money. Money is the only thing that talks..thanks to the Supremes for putting an exclamation point on that.

But then I think that my believing that is like what I see at my job everyday. Parents go in and bail their kids out of jail thinking that this time..their kids will appreciate it and behave. Hah! How can we reward bad behavior and expect it to change?? Maybe there is still time for Obama..what can he accomplish before the election? Can he now make us believers?

I think that some politicians are starting to see the handwritting on the wall..that we..the people..are getting fed up with this BS. And we the people have an excellent forum…social media..I feel it coming.

It takes people like Dylan Ratigan..Elizabeth Warren..Buddy Roemer..Bernie Sanders..to help us. They are some of my heros. It also requires that we stop blindly following a party and start looking at the individual running for office. The parties are controlled by money.

And I agree that it takes a reformed crook..like Abramoff.. to teach us their methods and how to protect ourselves from the crooks. I’m not so dumb that I couldn’t see thru crap if that’s what he puts out.

I think it helps to remember that any major change in our political system takes time.

The suffragette movement started in 1848. Women finally got the right to vote in 1920.

The Civil Rights movement was all over the place. Some states allowed free blacks to vote in the 1800s. Most didn’t. We had the Jim Crow laws for decades. After much violence and marching, we finally got the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Voting Rights Act in 1965.

The discussion of how money corrupts our political system and governance is just starting. We need a 28th amendment… and that will take more than one election cycle to get passed, IMO.

To see these poor young people getting arrested for having a piece of a joint..found behind one ear..because they were stopped..searched..because they were just walking in their neighborhood..which happens to be a high crime area. They are stuck in jail for a while because they don’t have a cent to bond out. But then some big wig gets out in a New York minute after being accused of photographing thousands of women’s twats while doing Gyn exams because he’s loaded with money. Not fair.

Not only is it not fair to them..it’s not fair to me because now I have to take care of them..and they havent done a thing about their health..ever..but now that they are being detained..they think that I should fix everthing that ails them…things that weren’t important before. Why..because the taxpayors are going to pay for it. And if it is a significant problem..I have to try.

One thing we can count on is a world that is constantly changing. It is not our parents world and quickly, for some of us, no longer ours.

Yesterday, I went down to the city market, it is winter so the local farmers aren’t there but they rent out permanent space for stores. It has turned into our ethnically diverse area. Indian, Arab middle east, small boutique bakery, polish pierogi, African foods and of course the Italians who have been there for ever. The Asian market has grown too big for the area and have bought their own building 2 blocks down.
Any way, what caught me off guard was that I found 2 places that sold live snails. not just small packages but large tanks in bulk, I could have bought them by the hundred weight. That is a lot of snails for a place like Kansas City where they are usually found at the few french restaurants.

Contrary to what the Republican establishment would have you believe, Newt Gingrich is the only candidate who can defeat Barrack Obama. Mitt Romney attacked Newt from day 1 in Iowa. Nothing was said, but when Newt returned fire in defense, everyone piled on him for being “negative” and have been dogging him trying to run him out of the race ever since. Romney has run so many dishonest attack ads with his millions it’s just, well dishonest. And he’s done so with no reprimand, as a matter of fact with blessings. This just shows the Republican establishment’s and both conservative and liberal media’s bias against Gingrich. And just like in 08 the Republican operatives and supposedly conservative media, believing they know better than us common folk, have already selected Romney as their golden-child and are determined to shove him down our throats, the same modus operandi they scream about Obama using. And, just like in 08 with McCain, if they get their way Obama will win again and America will be subjected to 4 more years of a dishonest administration shoving legislation, or illegally circumventing it, down our throats furthering us down the path of socialism, bankruptcy, and national INsecurity! One would think they were intelligent enough to do a little research whereupon they would see Romney is truly only slightly right of Obama on most issues, unless of course they have ulterior motives. There are many videos where he himself speaks to his beliefs and stances on the issues, showing him to be a moderate at the very best, liberal on most. I can understand someone learning and therefore changing their stance on 1 or 2 issues, but to do it on almost every single one reeks of political expediency, period! We need to make these people understand we have only been to 4 states, that the American people’s voices do count, and that if another “08″ occurs we the people will hold them accountable.

In the general election, Obama would clean Romney’s clock just as he did to McCain in 08.Obama will prove him to be the politically expediate candidate he is through the above mentioned videos, showing him espousing his moderate liberal stances on most issues previous to 07, then his sudden conversion to “conservatism” on the very same issues as he ramped up his campaign for the Republican Presidential primary in 08. Obama will definately portray Romney as a representative of the 1% with his untold wealth and secretive accounts in the Cayman Islands and Swiss banks. This class-warfare will play well with the Democrats and a large percentage of Independants, as well as the mainstream media.Romney will not fair well in the debates against Obama either. He has had few really good debate performances, only actually winning the last 2, held in Florida. That’s 2 out of approximately 19, enough said!

Conversely, Newt has had a very strong showing in most of the debates, winning the majority of them. As a matter of fact, in 2 of the debates he received a standing ovation, which is a rare occurrence.Newt will take Obama to the proverbial woodshed in any debate, on any issue, at any time. As far as Newt’s “baggage”, it has been out in the open for many years, thoroughly scrutinized and discussed with most of the allegations proven to be false. There are no surprises to be found here. His conservatism has been proven time and again by his record, receiving an American Conservative Union lifetime rating of 90%, 100% in 1998. He was part of the Reagan team, Nancy Reagan having said at the 1995 Goldwater Institute Dinner honoring President Ronald Reagan, “Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.”. He has endorsements from proven conservatives ranging from Michael Reagan to J.C. Watts. At the same time, as Speaker of the House under Bill Clinton, he has proven he can work in a bipartisan manner to achieve much needed results while standing firm on his principles. In some cases he had to take on members of his own party to do what he knew was right for the American people. He is a great thinker with bold ideas, and has proven he can convert these ideas into real working solutions, contrary to the inaccurate charges stating otherwise from his past disgruntled colleagues whom he had to take on in some issues.
