One result of the President’s re-election and his party’s continued control of the Senate is that Obamacare haters might as well shut up. You lost and you’re done.

For starters it means for certain we can’t be charged higher premiums for being sick, can’t be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions and no more annual dollar limits on health benefits.

Health exchanges will now go forward, providing a one-stop shop for buying affordable insurance.

And yes, in 2014 every American will be required to purchase health insurance. No more showing up at the emergency room without insurance and sending the bill to taxpayers.

Whatever its faults, Obamacare will now be implemented for the next four years by the man whose name it bears, a man now empowered to fix it where needed without abolishing it altogether.

I am concerned about the republicans they all are having memory problems — Obama does better than Shrub who had “lots of political capital to spend” but Obama just squeaked through

Another Republican myth — that and the big lie they are telling about how Obama distorted Romney who is really the world’s most wonderful country clubber

  10. oh no, it begins — Rubio going to Iowa next month for governor’s fundraiser

  11. purple-in-tampa says:

This is the only time that “trickle down” economics might actually work. The billionaires shell out big money to the super PACs and they spend it on local TV commercials and “ground games” where a lot of the money will end up going to the “you people” as Ann Romney would say

  12. Katherine Graham Cracker says:

You would think after all the Republican lies and bullsh-t about how they were winning that the media would push back on some of the crap they are dishing out now.

Nicole Wallace on ABC --we just need to modernize our message and snuffy just sat there like a big lump

Kelley Ann Conway on Pursed Lips Morgan said that Rmoney never said he would cut off funds for abortion
hello — planned parenthood???? And old fat ass said nothing and cut off Cecile Richards when she tried to correct it.

There are NOT two sides to every subject that comes up

  13. sturgeone says:

purple….I don’t think much of the ad-buy money trickles…i think it’s mostly re-cycled into corporate pockets. well, i guess some of it “trickles”.

The Pizza Pimp and Vote Stealer are going to advise the goopers on making inroads in the black community. The black Uriah Heep and Ken Blackwell the former Ohio sec’y of state largely responsible for the long lines in Ohio’s Democratic precincts
They might as well send Miss Ann Romney on her white horse

“Didn’t Shrub say after 2004 that he had a mandate and political capital to spend…Obama won bigger then Shrub”

Yes, and he acted on it immediately getting his agenda passed by both the R;s and the D;s.!!!

His tax breaks for the rich comes to mind.! How could he have passed something like that? with so many dems in office…..oh yeah, they passed it b/c they are just as rich and just as greedy.

Four years later Obama still hasn’t done anything about it.

Ok, lets not expect anything from our president…lets cut him some slack like U all seem to want to….for how long?

I don’t think that will be the thinking of all of the millions that lost their homes tho…U all seem to think that that was no big deal, just in the past, just some figures on a piece of paper. No there are still many homeless people due to losing their home while those that caused the financial melt down…..are they going to get a break also…..remember Obama promised to get the courts to help them.

Oh and are we going to let some time go by and see how Tim Geithner, and people like him are going to run the economy in act 2……this is real life not some game for most people.!!

He is my president, he won. I want him to act on his very first day like Bush did……

I remember that some on the trail, whenever there was a thread criticizing Obama…..they immediately said “don’t blame me” I wanted Hillary in office…..well lets see what they say now if Obama lets us down yet again.

  16. blueINdallas says:

Does anyone know how Westlake, TX (ave household income $250k+), Kenilworth, Il (ave household income $247k), Popponesset Island, MA, Plandome, Hewlett Neck, Plandome Manor and Munsey Park in Nassau Co, NY (ave household income $234k -- $242 k) voted ?

If any of them voted for Obama I’d be very surprised.

  19. Jamie says:

It truly is the economy stupid!!!

Would someone please explain to me why the Goopers can’t figure out that a well educated, healthy citizenry is cheaper than an ignorant, sick one? Then if they figure that one out why they can’t understand that it really isn’t okay for people to die in emergency rooms or be thrown into poverty for the sake of corporate profits because that is so much more expensive than actually providing opportunity and care.

What in the hell is wrong with these people?

  20. pogo says:

Only EC votes count in the Pres election. They are (with what, 2 exceptions where they are proportional?) by state. So I believe the telling political subdivision that provides any insight is by state. Be interesting to line up the states that went to Obama and to Rmoney by median income and see where they fall. I’m guessing that the average median income for the Obama states was higher than the ones for Rmoney.

  21. Jamie says:

“Fiscal Cliff” sounds so terrifying. Thank you once again bombastic media!! Loved the commenter who was actually honest enough to say “Be calm, it is more like a slanted driveway.”

  22. Jamie says:

The figure I would like to see is what would the EC votes have been if all the “winner takes all” states apportioned their votes by popular vote within the state.

  23. Katherine Graham Cracker says:

    hey Solar
I voted for Dr Jill Stein but if there had been a contest in California I would have voted for Obama
I voted in the self-interest of women. Obama has delivered for women in the form of fair pay issues and keeping abortion and contraceptive services as part of federally funded services.

The affordable health care act is a big deal.

In other areas not so much. I would have preferred he take on the criminal justice system but he chose not to do that. As for the economy -- I think he did what he could and the Republicans stood in the way of the rest.

For people interested in smaller government the Republicans spend far too much time and money in people’s personal lives.

  24. yep Jamie every time I hear “Fiscal Cliff” I think it’d make a great screaming cartoon character:

  25. xrepublican says:

rip ups are asking what went wrong. The answer is obvious. The Party candidate was a libbrull wuss who was soft on Blacks, Women, Latins, Gays, innerleck Jews, poor people, Moslems, France, Britain, Iran, Cuba, and other uppity inferiors.

The rip up Party needs candidates who will take an uncompromising stand against Women, Blacks, people with Latin-sounding names, Moslems, innerleck Jews, Homosexuals, and the un-rich, voting, owning property on which campaign signs can be posted or painted, having enough money to contribute to candidates, or engaging in political speech.

The rip up Party must maintain governments’ absolute rights to
    1. arrest, rendition, and torture, on suspicion of dissent, or use of marijuana or performance enhnacing drugs other than viagra or cialis.
    2. probe Women’s unmentionably obscene parts in search of evidence, or just to humiliate.
    3. make any woman pregnant, and force her to deliver to a deserving, rich, white, Christian, rip up woman.
    4. allow corporations, and Southern Baptist, Roman Catholic, Mormon, Pentacostal, and Brethren churches, the right to cast the election ballots for their employees, members, and neighbors.

Without this kind of strong stand against sin, libbrullizm, and the rule of Our Law, the repugnican Party is doomed, and the Book of Revelations will have to be cancelled.

Now that the election is over I expect the crude oil and gas prices to increase again. If I were a betting man, who I am not, I would bet that the Oil Companies subsidies will remain as payment for the reduction in prices before the election.

  28. Nash 2.5 says:

Obamacare is still a crappy program because Obama and the “bluedog” Dems in the Senate got rid of the “public option,” the most important “liberal” part of the program (which Obama promised he would include.)

What they were left with was a program that forces people to by private insurance with no cost controls. It’s a conservative program designed to enrich the insurance companies. Yes, it has a few good elements, but that’s like put cake frosting on a turd.

  29. Nash 2.5 says:

The “Fiscal Cliff” will trigger a recession within a few months if the GOP blocks any attempt to fix the problems, which they will probably do.

The wingnuts who control the GOP think that they can crash the economy and no one will notice that THEY did it. The GOP thinks they can blame it on Obama.

Naive liberals think that, because of the GOP’s election losses, the GOP has “learned its lesson” and will be more reasonable in the future. I doubt it.

My fear is that Obama will do his usual “deer in the headlights” act, unable to call the GOP out for its despicable behavior, whining about “bi-partisan compromise” until the economy crashes.

  30. Nash, can’t argue with that. But I do think a public option will eventually be added, hopefully in our lifetimes.

  31. Hello all Smile I love it when I wake up in the morning and Barrack Obama is president. (I may say this here every day for a week).

“In September we had the lowest inflow month that we’ve seen in our system since we began keeping detailed records in 1898. We only got about 25 percent of normal inflows,” said Monique Farmer, spokeswoman for the Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern division.

As ash and silt continue their relentless descent into the Poudre River during even tiny rainstorms, Fort Collins will have to spend much more money on water filtration and purification in the coming years and potentially treat drinking water with additional chemicals to ensure the muck stays away from your faucet, Fort Collins water production manager Lisa Voytko said.

I’m trying to give you an answer with out becoming too strident.
I could make points about us being an immigrant country. About how people I know who speak little English have watched their children go to Harvard.
But I’m going to tell a story.
I have a neighbor by the name of Angelo. Angelo Speaks very limited English, he is an old guy ,a bit of a drunk but a great neighbor. When I first moved into this neighborhood I met Angelo one night. he was walking down the street, saw me on my front porch stopped and offered me a beer. I took him up on the offer. So we sat on my front porch and he tried to communicate with me using his limited english and my next to nothing spanish. At the time we were just starting to see the influx of immigrants from south of the border. He want me to understand that he was not one of them. He looked at me shaking his finger back and forth saying “No Mexicano” then he thumped his chest with his finger and loudly proclaimed “American!”.
Indeed he was, for Angelo was born an American. He was born in Puerto Rico. As are around 4 million other people. Spanish is their natural language.
Then we have that little thing called a constitution, where we are all equal under the law. So if we are going to declare English an official language then by rights we have to declare Spanish an official language too. Then if we are going to do that then my family friend Buena, who is a member of the Navajo nation should have the language she speaks declared official too. After all they were here first. And so on……..

I’m going to become very conservative about this issue now and say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

From my prospective (we had immigrants from 7 different countries at our block party) it ain’t broke.
